Breast Prostheses

There are many choices available when looking for a breast prosthesis and/or mastectomy bra. Evelyn is a certified fitter for Amoena, Trulife (previously Camp), American Breast Care and Airway. She will help you choose the breast prosthesis and mastectomy bras best suited to your needs. Some prostheses are made to fit the right side, others the left, and others will fit either the left or right side.

Breast prostheses come with a two-year warranty; swimwear comes with a one-year warranty. Manitoba Health will pay up to $153.50 per prosthesis for one prosthesis every two years for a single mastectomy, or two prostheses every two years for a double mastectomy. They will also pay up to $12.30 per mastectomy bra for a total of two per year. Extra coverage may be available through private insurance companies such as Blue Cross – check with your insurance company to see if you are covered. Any portion not covered should be submitted to Revenue Canada with your income tax form as a medical expense.
