With more than 28 years of experience, Evelyn's professional, bilingual, private studio offers many alternatives to women of all ages and children. For women experiencing hair loss caused by cancer treatments, Alopecia Areata, Lupus, Trichotillomania, Psoriasis or thinning hair, a wig can restore self-esteem and dignity. Designer headwear, such as hats, scarves, wraps and turbans offer additional options to clients with hair loss.

You don't have to be losing your hair to come to Evelyn's though. For those who are not experiencing hair loss, owning a wig can be a great option for a "bad hair day" or to save time.

The price of wigs can vary. Typically, a synthetic wig will start in the range of $200.00 up to the range of $500.00. Human hair wigs will start at $795.00 and up. Depending on what you may be looking for and what you are able to pay, Evelyn will try her best to fit you in a wig that is professionally fitted and styled to your liking and in line with your financial situation – fitting you for your lifestyle. Headwear prices can range anywhere from $16.00 to $39.95. With the many styles and colors in stock, you’re sure to find something to suit your taste and your budget.

Evelyn sees clients by appointment Monday to Friday between 9:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m., and some Saturdays.

As this is a private and professional consultation for you, be sure to book ahead.  Unless there is a cancellation, it is very difficult to get a same-day appointment.  If your situation is urgent, please let Evelyn know.  You are welcome to bring a friend or family member with you to offer support and an opinion.  We ask that you refrain from bringing children under 6 years old with you, so that distractions do not interfere with your consultation.

It is not advisable to wait until you start losing hair to look for a wig.  Be sure to check with your doctor or nurse to find out if the medication or treatment you will be on will cause hair loss.  Once you know that you will be losing your hair, or even if you are told it will thin (which will make it very unmanageable), you should then start looking for alternatives such as a wig and/or fashion headwear.

Did you know...?

You may be able to reduce your financial cost in the purchase of a wig and/or headwear.

• If you have personal insurance, you may be able to get reimbursed for part, or all, of your wig purchase.
• If you don’t have personal insurance, be sure to include your wig purchase as a medical receipt when filing your income tax with Revenue Canada.
• Save 7% PST on your purchase of a wig and/or headwear. If your purchase is for medical reasons, you can get a prescription from your doctor that will allow your purchase to be PST exempt. Evelyn achieved this after many years of lobbying the government, along with the support of many cancer and alopecia clients.

Any woman or child taking chemotherapy or radiation

It is to your best interest to look for a wig/hair alternative or headwear once you have been told by your doctor
or nurse that your treatments will cause hair loss. Evelyn recommends not to wait until you have no hair.
It might relieve some of the stresses associated with hair loss.
